Clearing the Air with OK! Mag
I spoke with Shauna Bass from OK! Magazine to clear up some recent rumors. Here is a snippet of our interview:
So, how did you feel when you saw that fake tabloid headline?
What really hurt me was the title – because I have not been destroyed by fame whatsoever. So, when I saw the magazine, I was like, "What?" Sure, the show has brought fame into my life, and I'm grateful. I've met so many talented people; I get to be part of so many award presentations and other events. It's so much fun. Of course, fame has its up and downs, but at the end of the day, I know who I am. My family and friends tell me I haven’t changed a bit.
That cover story also mentioned drugs; casual readers could take it to mean you’re a user.
No, I don’t do drugs.
It really does seem like you're grounded.
I have my crazy L.A. life, but as soon as the cameras are done, I go back to my real, balanced life. When I’m done filming a scene, I always call my mom or my sister and vent, or just talk. I'm very close to my family; I speak to my parents two or three times a day.

For me mostly I just try and avoid most drama. I am nearing 30 (28) so I hope the people who I choose to associate with have also grown to not be so much invovled in drama. Let 9th grade stay in 9th grade. I'm a wife and mother. The last thing I need is extra drama. My 20 month old toddler has enough drama on her own! lol

I'm glad you got to clear things up with the media :)I also just finished watching Tim Ferriss' ("the 4 hour work week guy") presentation on Tactics For Dealing With Haters. It had a slightly blog-oriented bent to it, but dealt with print media as well, and I felt it was absolutely brilliant.

I didn't believe those rumors for a second. If someone is doing drugs, it usually starts to show. (Courtney Love, Lindsay Lohan, etc.) You always look happy and never a mess.

People will talk about you no matter what. Celebrity or not, it happens. People tend to thrive on the suffering of others which usually stems from jealousy. In my opinion, the only thing you can do is embrace the situation. If you have a negative reaction to the situation, you are playing right into their game and giving them the satisfaction. :D

I knew the MIN I saw the headline it was BS. YOU are one of the few ppl on reality TV that is way classy and down to earth. US Mag sucks and they know it. They do it to sell mags. Glad you spoke your truth.

I didn't believe it the second i saw the ridiculous cover... the hills are hot right now especially it being the last season ...they just want to sell some covers ...they know people love hearing about drama to have something to talk about

well i deal with rumors by just letting people think what they want, people who think that the meanist rumor is true are not true friends, but if i get confronted about it id set things straight . just keeep your head high, your better than to listen to those tabloids

Ignore them in their entirety. Showing them that you even care is pointless. Live your life honestly and they will eventually realize who you truly are. If you are a good person, they will learn that... keep 'em guessin'. That's what I do.

Rumors can hurt sometimes, but what I find most effective is to confront them head on! I have been thru too much to let someone tear me down to match their image of me!
